The Second Festival of Black & African Arts and Culture of 1977 was an event that could not be ignored, and practically impossible to top or even to copy given the present state of affairs in Africa. Almost 30 years have passed, and there has not been a third Festac. To its detractors, it was an exhibition of excess. However, no one can deny that it was the greatest gathering of African cultures of all time. Do you have any original relic of Festac 77? Well, I do and want to share them with you.
Eleven years ago, I inherited 150 original posters of Festac 77 from my god mother, an African-American university professor, who had just passed. These posters are in brand new state, since they were printed on quality acid-free paper. The picture on the right is a representation of one of my posters. It features the symbol of Festac 77, the ivory portrait mask of 15th Century Queen Idia of the Ancient Kingdom of Benin.
These posters are not copies, but the actual originals, created to publicise the great event. My godmother brought a consignment to the United States and did not get around to distributing all of them. They are suitable for framing, and will enhance the decor of your house or office, and project your pride in your culture and origins. It is also a wonderful conversation piece for your children and your friends.
Prices are as follows:
20x30 inch poster: $20 per poster and $6 S&H
If you want to order more than 5 posters, please email me, so that we could discuss shipping arrangements
I also have smaller posters. Their exact dimensions and price will be posted shortly.

would you mind me using an image of one of the festac 77 posters in a phd thesis? do you have any scanned images?

Fantastic, Brother! The poster/image is simply fantastic. Thanks to your god mother!
I'll love to get some copies. I'll get in touch for that.
In the mean time, I'll like to ask for your permission to the image in a book I'm preparing for publication. I had been searching for a good one to use in the book. Yours, an original, is the best.

Is there any chance that i can get in contact with you to discuss the posibility of promoting CBAAC the Organization that was set up in Lagos Nigeria after FESTAC 77, CBAAC are the official custodians of all the works and material that was left in Nigeria by the partcipating countries for us to preserve, promote & propogate African Cultural Heritage in its totality.
I work with the organization and I am working on creating the platforms to expand the reach and visibility of an organization that is part of a Black African Legacy...
